Flood Restoration Update

It has taken until the end of February for the sports centre to dry out and ChemDry to remove their drying equipment. Contractors and tenders then had to be chosen by the loss adjustor and the building surveyors. A main contractor has been appointed and the main work commences Monday 11th April, which they have planned for 12 weeks of work, taking us up to around the first week in July for reopening.

This total refurbishment of the sports centre will include: –

-New flooring in the sports hall, small hall and all 4 squash courts

-Relining and refurbishment of all 4 squash court walls

-LED lighting into small hall, all squash courts and hopefully the main hall

-Redecoration throughout the centre

-Re-carpeting of the sports centre

-Flood defence measures to help try and prevent this from happening again

While we have been shut, we have decided to make the most of the situation and have started on redeveloping the existing centre to make it safer and more comfortable for our users. Over the past couple of weeks a brand new CCTV system has been installed and a refurbished sports centre reception.

Following the sports centre refurbishment, we already had plans in place to replace the all weather pitch with a brand new turf surface as it is 12 years old – this will take place week commencing 4th July 2016 for a period of 6 – 8 weeks.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the sports centre being shut and we appreciate your patience while the redevelopments take place. We can assure you that when we reopen, the improvements we have done in conjunction with the insurance company will see a significant ‘facelift’ for the sports centre.

We fully intend to keep you informed throughout the next couple of months and look forward to welcoming you back in July.

Many thanks again for your understanding.
