Get Fit & Keep Fit – Build Self Confidence & Learn to Defend Yourself with Ju-Jitsu.
Our clubs offer training at all levels in a friendly atmosphere for juniors & seniors including family training on Saturday mornings.
The original Skipton Ju-Jitsu club was formed in the early 1970s by Sensei Robert Ashworth and was affiliated to the British Ju-Jitsu Association. Over the years Sensei Ashworth opened Ju-Jitsu Clubs throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire eventually forming his own organisation RA Defence. He continued his own training throughout this time to reach the standard of 8th Dan.
The clubs offer training in a friendly atmosphere for all levels of ability and fitness from age 7 upwards.
Now affiliated to the Cobra Martial Arts Association our instructors are trained and qualified to the requirements of the Martial Arts Standards Agency, hold the appropriate First Aid qualifications and are checked through the Government Disclosure & Barring Service. Rose Counties Ju-Jitsu operates an equal opportunities policy.
Beginners are welcome to all classes. Your first lesson is free!

General Info: The Japanese martial art of Aikido is a comprehensive system of throwing, joint-locking, striking and pinning techniques. Rather than primarily linear motions, Aikido is comprised of blending, turning, pivoting, circling, and spiralling. Aikido embodies concepts which are at the same time very simple, yet very complex. Aikido can be very challenging to learn, yet at the same time can be very rewarding because it is ultimately bringing us into harmony with ourselves and with our world, and helping us to become more complete and integrated human beings.

General Info: These classes are designed for children and to be fun. The word Judo consists of two Japanese characters, “Ju” which means gentle and “do” which means ‘the way’ – so Judo means the way of gentleness. Judo is a dynamic sport that does not rely on strength but is based on a combination of balance, co-ordination and reaction – all skills that help performance across other sports. Most importantly, Judo helps children become more self-confident, disciplined, self-controlled and polite.
